iGPF Formula 3 | Round 11 | Virginia International Raceway
The ever slept on VIR racetrack was home to round 11 of the iGPF Formula 3 over the weekend. A track that sees low participation due to the low usage on the iRacing service which is unfortunate not only because it is our home track but its a great technical circuit for racing. 34 entries made up the grid for Sundays event and Qio-Tiago Marteau and Christophe Herbigneaux would secure 2nd and 4th place.
Early mistakes for both drivers would put them on the back foot and Herbigneaux out of the race for a DNF. Marteau was able to minimize time lost after falling back to 8th place made an impressive charge back up through the field picking off drivers one by one getting himself back onto the podium and into 2nd behind Mattie Hingeley who ran a flawless race to take the win, his first of the season.
2nd place here for Marteau has what appears locked in the drivers championship for this season. Herbigneaux results dropped him to 5th in drivers after sitting in 2nd before round 11. Drop rounds have taken in effect so that is to shake the results up a tad.
The team championship is still alive and well with our guys in red leading the way over 3Drap Squadra Corse One by 38pts heading into the final round.
When results become official this will be Marteau's 3rd iGPF Formula 3 championship in a row! Back to Back to Back! 😎 🏆🏆🏆
